Everyone is thinking about goal setting as New Year’s Eve approaches. Signing up for that membership at the gym, isn’t totally necessary since there are other ways to reach your health and fitness goals.

Ultimately, you shouldn’t feel compelled to join the gym in January because it’s not a prerequisite for getting fit.

Set three simple goals

Set your goals as if they have already happened, that’s what we’ll do together in the first session. 

  1. I resolve to eat more fruits and vegetables
  2. I resolve to cook healthier meals.
  3. I resolve to take the steps every time instead of the elevator, inclinator or escalator.

According to LIVESTRONG you need to eat fewer calories than you burn to lose weight, so adding in exercise will only help increase your caloric deficit. Your activity of choice doesn’t have to involve a treadmill or crowded gym. According to College Fashionista, heading outdoors with cycling, or Yoga, or Hiking are just a handful of alternative exercises that burn more calories than going to the gym.
